PRESS RELEASE

The 2nd Clinical Workshop of Functional Reconstructive Urology, will be held 8th-10th June, 2012, in Agria, Volos.
The Workshop is organized by the Institute for the Study of Urological Diseases (www.imop.gr) and the Center for Continence and Pelvic Floor Diseases (CCPFD) of the Unit for the Study Urological Diseases (USUD) of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
This is the natural continuation of the previous successful 1st Clinical Workshop of last year, which was conducted along two axes, one in Thessaloniki and one in Patras. In an effort to facilitate access for participants from all geographic regions of the country, this year the picturesque village of Agria, Volos, has been chosen as the Workshop Venue.
Functional Urology is one of the most important fields of Urology, as 1 in 8 men and women suffer from urinary frequency (daily and nocturnal), urinary urgency (strong pressure to go immediately to urinate) or even urinary incontinence.
The Workshop is intended for Urologists, since the treatment of these symptoms and conditions with which it is connected (overactive bladder, stress incontinence, neurogenic bladder, benign prostatic hypertrophy, etc.) conceals many secrets. During the Workshop, there will be presentation of the latest scientific data and the simple everyday techniques of a urinary clinic for the diagnostic and therapeutic approach of patients.
The Workshop aims at combining evidence-based medicine with the experience of clinical practice in a bilaterally teaching interaction between an elite group of "Instructors" who have been long and substantially involved in the fields of Functional Urology Neurourology & Urodynamics, Gynecological Urology, Male Incontinence, as well as Urologists who wish to broaden up and deepen their knowledge in the above areas.
Coordinators of the program are the Scientific Director of the Center for Continence and Pelvic Floor Disease of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and of the special Neuro-Urology and Gynecological Urology Centre of the AUTh 2nd Urology Clinic (“Papageorgiou” Hospital, Thessaloniki), Assistant Professor of Urology-Neurourology, Apostolos Apostolidis, and Professor of Urology AUTH Dimitris Chatzichristou, President of the Institute for the Study of Urological Diseases.
The program is acknowledged as a Continuing Education Program of the European Urological Association and it is held thanks to the assistance provided by the Pfizer Company, which is the exclusive sponsor of the event.
