He graduated, received his doctorate and completed his training in Urology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He served as Director of Urology Clinic of the 401 General Military Hospital of Athens and the 403 General Military Hospital (for 1 and 2 years, respectively). In 2002 he was elected to the position of Lecturer of the Medical School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and since 2008 he has been Assistant Professor of Urology. He was a scientific research associate of the Centre of Sexual and Reproductive Health as by 1998 and of the Unit for the Study of Urological Diseases (USUD) from its creation, while from 2012 onwards he is a Scientific Officer of the USUD and a Board Member of ISUD. He was a national delegate to the Advisory Committee and a Member of the clinical committee of the European Society for Sexual Medicine (ESSM). From 2005-07 he was the editor-in-chief of the ESSM website and newsletter (ESSM Today), and of the Communication Committee of the International Society for Sexual Medicine (ISSM) and of its newsletter (ISSM Newsbulletin) He was a Member of the Scientific Committee (chairman of the subcommittee on clinical issues in male sexual dysfunction) of ESSM from 2009 to today and a Member of the Committee for the pharmaceutical treatment of male erectile dysfunction of the International Advisory Committee for Sexual Medicine. He is vice president of the Committee of the European Association of Urology (EAU) for issuing guidelines on erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation and penile bending. He is a reviewer in 23 international scientific journals. He has been invited as a speaker / rapporteur in more than 100 Greek and international conferences and has received 1 international prize (the first prize of the Pan European Urology Congress, 2005) and 3 awards in Greek conferences. He has authored 51 articles in international scientific journals with more than 1300 literature references, 3 chapters in international books and more than 70 articles and chapters in the Greek literature.
