He studied at the Medical School of the University of Athens, completed his residency in Urology at Tzaneion General Hospital and received his PhD from the Medical School of the University of Patras. Since 1989, he has been a member of the Teaching & Scientific Staff at the Urology Clinic of the Medical School of the University of Patras and has been the Director of the Urology Clinic of the University General Hospital of Patras since 2005. He received further training in general urology for 9 months at Glasgow Royal Infirmary and for 3 months at Taunton and Somerset Hospital in the United Kingdom. In 2003, he received further training for 6 months at the University Hospital of Berne, Switzerland under Professor Urs Studer in the field of major oncologic surgery of the urinary-reproductive system and neuroprotection. His educational duties at the University of Patras and his clinic and research interests focus on Oncology of the Urinary-Reproductive System and on Andrology. He has participated in 30 multi-centre research studies and coordinated 2 international and 3 Greek multi-centre studies conducted in Greece. He is a member of numerous Greek and International scientific associations, a reviewer for 25 international journals and a member of the Editorial Board on 3 such journals. He has given numerous lectures in Greece and abroad and has authored 120 scientific papers for international journals.
